About usRose Christoforo
Rose began studying ballet at the age of ten at the Boston School of Ballet. Admiring all the beautiful dancers she wanted to be one of them. In two years, she was chosen to dance with the Bolshoi Ballet. In four years, she was dancing with the Boston Ballet Company. At age sixteen she had received a full scholarship to the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York City. Unable to attend due to family finances she remained in Boston and danced with the company until 1976. She toured with the Boston Ballet Company and performed Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Giselle, Swan Lake, Concerto Borroco and Symphony in C. Rose also danced for the Chicago and Boston Opera Companies. She moved to New York and studied jazz. She danced in several jazz venues and also became an Atlantic City Showgirl. Upon arriving in Boston, after a twelve-hour flight from Hawaii, she was told to go to an audition right away. After a grueling eight-hour audition she became one of the new back up dancers for the Aretha Franklin Show. While resting a dance injury, Rose enrolled in an acting class. She met an actress who worked for Universal Studios, California. They were looking for someone to perform in the Woody Woodpecker costume. She landed the role and began traveling the country entertaining children. She was Universal's best woodpecker and was sent to the finest promotions in the United States, including the White House on several occasions. Eventually, she managed, wrote, choreographed, rehearsed and did sound editing for children's touring shows. They included Mighty Mouse, Rocky and Bullwinkle, The Pink Panther and Spiderman. Rose sold her show script to Universal in 1985. When she met Grace and Walter Lantz's staff, their love for Woody Woodpecker gave her the desire to create her own cartoon character.
In 1980, the Binkey Bear costume was designed, then recreated and designed by Rose in 1983. Since then bears, bunnies, butterflies, dinosaur costume heads and many others character creations were created and are still in use today. In 1995, she was asked to write and produce Hasbro's Cabbage Patch Kids Touring Show . Five original songs were written for the show. Admiring the works of Walter and Grace Lantz, Bill Hanna and Joe Barberra, Sherri Lewis, Jim Henson and Walt Disney she has had a love for children's entertainment and creation ever since. Her many years of experience, imaginative dreams and childhood stories have inspired her entertaining and writing Binkey Bear's adventures. Welcome to the world of Binkey Bear.Sincerely, |
